Hello Everyone

I bring you some exciting bulletin news today: throughout this week, we'll be looking for a full-time editorial intern and a part-time community manager to join our staff in Spring 2011!

In the past year, KYM internship program has quickly become an integral part of the process in bringing new talent onboard the team and it is highly recommended for aspiring writers, scholars and artists who are interested in working with a research team to document and report on arts & culture, the cutting-edge way.

During the course of KYM internship program, there will be plenty of opportunities to collaborate with other site moderators and community members in meme research & publishing articles in the database, as well as presenting your own voice and opinions on a wide range of topics through KYM outlets on blogging services and social networks like Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and YouTube.

KYM Editorial Intern

We’re seeking a writer intern with copy-editing experience to join our editorial staff in Spring 2011. Ideal candidates should be familiar with Wikipedia-style formatting, in the current with popular internet community sites and a background in journalism, publishing or creative writing.

Some of the main responsibilities include copy-editing and verifying entries made by site users, writing new entries to our extensive database, as well as researching topical memes, histories and associated media.

This is a full-time internship at our SoHo (NYC) office with stipends ($15/h) and a minimum of a two month commitment during the months of February – May will be required. May be used towards academic credit. To be considered, please email your resume, links to personal projects and a writing sample in the body of the email; no attachment please.

Specific Skills Wanted:

• Strong copy-editing skills, previous experience in online publishing.
• Basic HTML skills, working knowledge in image-editing software like Photoshop.
• Ability to multi-task across the site and to prioritize with minimal direction.
• Ability to follow up with editors to ensure accurate and timely publication; strong organizational skills.



KYM Community Management Intern

Know Your Meme is seeking an intern to join the team and assist in managing our ever-growing online community. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, currently blogs, and has experience with Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, YouTube, and other social networking services. A strong understanding of internet communities and the current state of online web video is a plus.

Responsibilities include moderating site comments, participating in forum discussions and updating various social networks while promoting user-engagement with site content.

This is a part-time internship at our SoHo (NYC) office with hourly stipends and a minimum of a two month commitment during the months of February – May will be required.
