Kelly--You Know, From "Shoes"--Returns To Sing About Masks
2020 has definitely been full of surprises, but if literally anyone had "Kelly from Shoes doing a skit about masks" on their bingo card, please collect your prize.
Liam Kyle Sullivan, the man behind the 2006 viral hit "Shoes," hadn't uploaded a video to his dormant YouTube channel since 2013 until yesterday, when he "reunited" the cast of his original hit sketch a PSA-like sequel. The dad (Sullivan) is there, only now he's read a book and is "awoke"; the drunk grandma is rattling around in the background; the mom is as judgmental and awful as ever.
The actual song portion of the video is short and finds Kelly disappointed that all her beloved shoe stores have closed.
In the video's description, "Kelly" writes, "Listen, betches, research shows that masks can block the majority of particles that could contain SARS-CoV-2, so… let’s wear a mask! And be sure to wash your cloth mask after each use if possible. The CDC says so, DECK!" "She" also mentions that a portion of the proceeds from the video will go to Doctors Without Borders.
Obviously, the coronavirus-themed sequel doesn't capture the viral magic of the original "Shoes," but it is nevertheless an astounding punch of nostalgia, and it's for a good cause. Don't be a DECK.
