'Donnie Darko' And The Chuckster Give The Memes Of The Week An Early-2000s Flair

The twilight of September brought a distinctly "early-2000s" feel to the memes of the week, as cult film Donnie Darko saw a new template begin to trend with the I Made A New Friend template and Nintendo's release of Super Mario 3D All Stars, a collection featuring Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy,, brought the infamous Chuckster enemy from Super Mario Sunshine back into the meme fold. Perhaps with the election looming and racial tensions intensifying in the U.S., memers have turned to nostalgia for their giggles.

On the bright side, however, September 21st was this week, which meant it was time for September by Earth, Wind and Fire memes to make their annual appearance, and bizarre TikTokers the Vörös twins set off a bizarre craze with Da Vinki.
