A Calamitous Debate, Trump Getting COVID, 'Minecraft' Steve Coming To 'Smash', And 'Da Vinki' Lead A Chaotic Memes Of The Week

Some weeks, there simply isn't enough content to make a great "Memes of the Week" list. Last week was not one of those weeks.

A calamitous presidential debate simultaneously made all of America depressed and launched several powerful meme templates that any other week would have been more than enough to satiate hungry memers. Thursday morning, however, there was an absolute bombshell in the Smash world as Minecraft Steve was announced as the new DLC fighter, leading to a hype and meme train unseen since the first Everyone Is Here announcement. And if that weren't enough, later that same night, Donald Trump announced he and Melania tested positive for COVID-19, leading to a completely delirious mix of schadenfreude, jokes and conspiracies to spread through Twitter. And we haven't even talked about Da Vinki yet.

All in all, it was one of the craziest weeks in news in recent memory, which means it was one of the best weeks for memes.
