But Depp had a significant amount of fans who absolutely believed Heard was the abuser since her legal team could produce very little reliable evidence, while Depp had numerous recordings, photographs and much more that seemed to indicate Amber Heard physically and emotionally abused him during their marriage.

Online, many people sided with Depp due to the substantial evidence. In the end, Depp partially won the court case, though he only was awarded $15 million (later reduced to just over $10 million) out of the $50 million he was suing for. Heard was awarded $2 million in her countersuit of $100 million.

The verdict was deemed fair by the jury due to the belief that both parties mutually slandered one another, an explanation most Depp fans didn’t buy. But now, opinions are changing after an interesting development in the case.

Amber Heard has been trying to get the verdict of the trial thrown out or to have a retrial with new evidence that hasn’t yet come to light. Many people thought this was "obnoxious." — apparently obnoxious enough for Depp fans to donate thousands of dollars to get pre-trial court documents unsealed by a pro-Depp lawyer.

They succeeded, but what they found was not nearly what they were hoping for. Instead, the documents purportedly favor Heard, according to some, for quite a few reasons. While it doesn’t change the verdict of the trial, they certainly have left many people with a much more unfavorable view of Johnny Depp, which has led to many notable celebrities unliking his victory Instagram post and refusing to share opinions on the trial on social media.

Problematic Evidence from Depp’s Team

According to the unsealed documents, Depp’s team allegedly planned on submitting nude photos of Heard as a form of evidence, and there was also supposed to be a potential “character attack” on her due to her past stint as an exotic dancer. This was seen as a form of objectifying Heard and shaming her, which many on both sides of the argument appeared to agree is not an ethical move or even a real form of evidence.

The documents also reveal Depp’s team tried to bar testimony from Elaine Barkin, who claimed Depp through a bottle at her during a fight years prior, from notable psychologists siding with Heard, and from forensics expert Julian Ackert, who believed the audio files presented as evidence by Depp’s team may have been altered.

Heard’s team apparently submitted Depp’s history of erectile dysfunction and herpes as evidence that they say supports the theory that Heard was sexually assaulted, but the connection between these two is obviously dubious at best, so the evidence was thrown out.

But now that it’s been uncovered, some of the same Depp fans who paid thousands to get the court documents unsealed are seeing headlines like “Johnny Depp’s Erectile Dysfunction Revealed,” which is awkward and unnecessary, to say the least.

Depp’s Alleged Friendship with Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson has also been trending lately due to many claims of abuse. There are a lot of people who side with Manson too, but far fewer than those who sided with Depp. Some odd messages from Manson were revealed to be on Johnny Depp’s phone in the documents, including one where Manson asked for a place to hide out and one where he offered to send Depp photos of a teenage fan to cheer him up.

But there’s no evidence that Depp was connected in any way to Manson’s suspected crimes, and this part of the character case was thrown out because of the likelihood of Depp being considered guilty by association.

Heard Turning Down Divorce Settlement Money

Amber Heard was often depicted by some of Depp’s avid fans as greedy and looking for his money, but it turns out that she actually took much less money than she was entitled to in the divorce, knowingly.
