'Storm Area 51' Event Organizer Cancels 'Alienstock' Music Festival To Avoid Another Fyre Fest
With a whimper, not a bang, the meme of summer 2019 died an unceremonious death, as organizers of an impromptu music festival called Alienstock, itself a creative solution cashing in on the satirical yet unnervingly popular Storm Area 51 Facebook page, have cancelled the festival for fear of creating "Fyre Fest 2.0."
The Alienstock website now features a message saying "the lack of infrastructure, poor planning, risk management and blatant disregard for the safety of the expected 10,000+ AlienStock attendees" led to organizers pulling the plug on the event. The festival was supposed to take place in Rachel, Nevada, a town with a population of 54 people, no gas stations for miles in any direction, and one hotel, the Little A'Le'Inn. Organizers claim that they were assured by the owner of the Little A'Le'Inn, Connie West, that the town was excited about putting on the festival and that preparations for the festival would be put in place. Citing multiple missed "opportunities to provide us with the proof that things expected at this festival… contracts, proof of deposits or any paper proof of anything," Alienstock organizer Matty Roberts disconnected from West entirely.

Fearing a humanitarian disaster, the Alienstock brand, which apparently "stands for unity and concern for like minded people," has moved to the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, where Bud Light and Collective Zoo will sponsor a free concert with as-yet-unannounced musical acts on September 19th. The Rachel, Nevada website, which initially had stated "The residents were not asked and are not on board and will certainly not allow their town to be taken over," now cheekily advertises the moved festival, stating, "The Alienstock event in Rachel just became Fyre Fest 2.0 as we had predicted…. If any event still happens it is going to be a pretty sad affair with no bands, very little infrastructure and a lot of unhappy campers. Instead of coming out to Rachel to storm Area 51 why not follow the Alienstock organizers and enjoy the party at the Area 51 Celebration in Las Vegas?"
Thankfully, "Storm Area 51" was not done in my the U.S. military gunning down thousands of idiots Naruto Running at a military base, but rather by a few idiots who thought they could organize a highly-attended music festival in the middle of nowhere on a month's notice. A poetic and very "2019" end to the meme of the summer.

My headcanon is that the future self of the organizer came back with the time machine from Area 51 and warned him, that all those deaths just doesn't worth the alien babes.

So back to storming Area 51?

Honestly the 2 or so month time they had for logistics was pretty unreasonable.

The wording on this article feels as if you have an axe to grind or something.
It was overambitious and may very well have been another fyre festival, but I'm pretty sure you could have conveyed that without ranting about how much they were "idiots" as you put them.

Welcome to the 21st century; there is no more dry journalism.

Disagree. There's a saturation of it, but there are still many articles here that give just straight-up info without putting their opinion in it.

I mean it was a pretty stupid idea
