Ghislaine Maxwell's In-And-Out Photo Fuels More Epstein Conspiracy Theories
The mysteries swirling around the death of Jeffrey Epstein got a new wrinkle this past week as Epstein's former girlfriend and alleged co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell emerged from hiding, appearing at a Los Angeles In-And-Out Burger for a leisurely lunch of a burger, fries and a shake.
Captured on camera by The New York Post, the photograph is the first of Maxwell since 2016. She has been accused of playing the madame in a sex-trafficking ring headed by multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his jail cell earlier this month. The death was later ruled to be a suicide. More curiously, the photograph appeared just one day after The Daily Mail reported that Maxwell had been holed up in a Massachusetts home with her boyfriend, avoiding the press and, presumably, law enforcement.
But like everything surrounding the case, people are questioning the supposed reality of the situation, focusing on small, seemingly insignificant details of the photograph. In this case, a poster for the 2019 Seth Rogan film Good Boys at a bus stop in the photo's background has people scratching their heads. According to The Daily Mail, who visited the restaurant, there has never been a Good Boys poster at the bus stop, but rather an advertisement for a nearby hospital. Furthermore, the owner of the advertising space said that the hospital ad has been there since July 28th.
The Daily Mail continues to point out other discrepancies between the photograph and the New York Post's reporting. For example, the Post reported that Maxwell dined alone, but the photograph features two drinks.
While Outfront Media, the owner of the ad space, has gone on record stating that they believe Maxwell had "photoshopped" the image, many have noted that it is not uncommon for people to order two drinks at In-And-Out, a milkshake and another beverage. You can't pound a Double-Double and animal fries with just a shake? You need something smoother.
According to the Mail, the photograph's metadata raises more questions than answers, tracing back to Meadowgate Media Investments, which is owned by Maxwell's friend Leah Saffian. They write:
The In-N-Out burger joint picture was published by the New York Post on Thursday after they obtained it from Saffian, 60.
In the picture, Maxwell is seen staring at the camera with a tray of food and two drinks. A dog, which is understood to be Saffian's dog named Dexter, is at her feet.
According to the photograph's metadata, reviewed by DailyMail.com, the photograph is tagged with 'Meadowgate'. Metadata provides information about the rights of the photograph to users.
Saffian is president of Meadowgate Media Investments Inc, according to public records.
Obviously, like so much surrounding this case, there's a lot to parse over, debate and theorize, but it's perhaps too wrapped up in a web of weirdness, money and power to ever get the entire truth. However, Maxwell's In-And-Out lunch has become a focal point as those in Epstein's orbit continue to muddy the waters.
