Why Are TikTokers Mass Unfollowing Vexbolts On December 31st, 2024? The Viral Trolling Campaign Explained
TikTokers are revolting against a content creator with over 2 million followers for the crime of being too cringe.
The creator in question is Vexbolts and lately, he's become the subject of a huge trolling campaign that urges users to unfollow him on December 31st, 2024.
So why exactly are TikTokers trying to unfollow Vexbolts, is the campaign working and has Vexbolts responded? Here's what we know.
What Is The 'Vexbolts Mass Unfollowing' Campaign?
On or around Christmas 2024, TikTokers began posting videos urging others to unfollow content creator Vexbolts. Vexbolts is a creator with around 2 million followers who is known for his meme videos. Some of his most popular videos see him making parodies of popular songs that replace certain words with brainrot terms.
Vexbolts has gained millions of followers for this content, but he's not everyone's cup of tea. Some people find his content cringeworthy, which seems to be at the center of this mass unfollowing campaign, which was started by an unknown TikToker. While there is no solid reason for the campaign, most commenters simply claim it's because of his content.
How Is 'Vexbolts Mass Unfollowing' Used In Memes?
The mass unfollow campaign is largely being spread through memes and videos on TikTok. Most of these videos use the copypasta, "Vexbolts mass unfollowing dec 31st, spread the word." This copypasta is also being used as a spam comment on popular videos unrelated to Vexbolts to further spread the word.
Since the campaign launched, Vexbolts' follower count has purportedly only gone up, with the creator passing 2-million followers just after Christmas. However, some claim that these people are only following Vexbolts so that they can unfollow him on the 31st.
How Did Vexbolts Respond To The Campaign?
Vexbolts recently started responding to the mass unfollowing through a series of videos on TikTok. In the videos, which each boast millions of views, he exaggeratedly reacts to the troll campaign, calling our haters and begging people to "take him to 2025" and stick around.
Vexbolts acknowledges and confirms that the campaign was started because he "ruins memes" by playing into them too early with his brain rot content. Mostly though, Vexbolts is just having fun with the campaign and using it as an excuse to make memes and get big views and it's working.
