Why Are People Making Memes About Donald Trump And Bill Clinton? The Epstein 'Trump Blowing Bubba' Emails Explained
The bombshell conspiracy theory about U.S. President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton that erupted over the weekend is arguably the weirdest sex scandal in American politics.
Numerous newly released emails from Jeffrey Epstein's estate have sparked speculation that Russian President Vladimir Putin might be blackmailing Donald Trump with photos of him being "intimate" with another former president, one already infamous for a sex scandal that derailed his political career.
For many, the rumors have given a new meaning to Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," and the internet has spent days churning out countless memes about the shocking theory.
So, where did this bizarre story originate, and how much of it is truth, and how much fiction? Here's a recap.
What Did Jeffrey Epstein's Emails Reveal, and Why Do People Think 'Bubba' Is Bill Clinton?
On November 12th, 2025, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a cache of previously unseen emails from Jeffrey Epstein's estate, including a March 2018 email from Mark Epstein to his brother, Jeffrey, that read, "Ask him if Putin has the photos of Trump blowing Bubba." The exchange continues with Mark saying, "You and your boy Donnie can make a remake of the movie Get Hard."
Theories about who "Bubba" might be quickly began circulating online. On November 14th, X user @TrueSlazac pointed out that the nickname appears five other times in the Epstein files, and in every instance referred solely to Bill Clinton.
NBC News reported on the emails too, writing, "Mark Epstein suggested Jeffrey ask whether Russian President Vladimir Putin possessed compromising pictures of Trump and Clinton together."
Two days later, fact-checking site Snopes confirmed the authenticity of the exchange in a November 14th article, highlighting that the email was real and not a doctored leak.
Whether Mark Epstein was entirely serious in posing the question to Jeffrey Epstein is a question much of the internet did not stop to ponder, as people immediately began speculating if this email was the reason the "Epstein Files" were not being released to the public.
How Did Internet Users React To The 'Bubba' Emails And Viral Rumor?
It's safe to say that reactions to the rumor were nuclear, as it rapidly ignited memes and viral discourse in mid-November 2025.
For instance, a photo of President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton from back in the year 2000 was shared on the subreddit /r/pics by Redditor AmbitionOfPhilipJFry with the caption, "Pres Trump celebrates his handling of a big beautiful Bill (09/2000, via Reuters)," gathering over 100,000 upvotes in just a day.
That photo was also turned into an AI-generated video in which Trump appeared to be patting Clinton's crotch, gaining over 12 million views and 100,000 likes on Twitter / X in short order.
Other internet users to a more crude route to commenting on the news, with one Twitter / X user posting an image of Trump’s face superimposed on Monica Lewinsky's body, prompting X user @kylekulinski to ask, "So that email was real? Did Trump actually suck off Bill Clinton?"
X user @RKattiJr shared a still of actress Zendaya from the steamy 2024 film Challengers, smirking in a scene where she watches her co-stars kiss, writing, "Bill Clinton watching the 2016 presidential debates," and gathering over 200,000 likes in a day.
Others like X user @_Draitto_ found humor in viewing the news as cruel irony for those looking for more LGBTQ+ representation in U.S. politics.
Some people, including many on the right, however, expressed more disbelief over the story, like extremist political commentator Nick Fuentes, who said, "I don't think that's real […] the signs were there, his anthem is the YMCA by the Village People."
