The latest TikTok challenge has arrived and like many other challenges born on the app, it's garnering some controversy. The egg crack challenge has one person crack an egg on the forehead of an unsuspecting victim and it's resulted in tons of viral videos so far, including many where mothers crack an egg on their child's forehead. So, what's the issue? Here's what you need to know.

What Is The 'Egg Crack Challenge' On TikTok?

The egg crack challenge first started going around TikTok in early August 2023. One of the earliest TikTokers to popularize it showcased the challenge by cracking an egg on her daughter's forehead. Her daughter cries once the egg breaks, but then she gets her revenge by cracking an egg on her mother's forehead.

This video sparked a challenge as more TikTokers began filming themselves cracking an egg on an unsuspecting victim's head. Some people are cracking eggs on their significant other's heads, some on their parents' heads, while others are cracking eggs on their children's heads.

Why Is The 'Egg Crack Challenge' Controversial?

While the challenge is a cracking good time when it's an adult cracking an egg on another adult's head, some people are worried about the videos where parents crack an egg on their kid's head. Some children who participate in the challenge cry or express pain after they get the egg cracked on their head, which has some viewers worried that the trend is potentially abusive to children.

How Do You Do The 'Egg Crack Challenge'?

If you'd like to ignore the warnings about potentially hurting someone and want to get in on the egg crack challenge yourself, all you need to do is set up a camera, get an egg, lure your victim in front of the camera then crack the egg on their forehead. Preferably, this is done with a bowl on-the-scene so you don't get egg everywhere.

In many of the videos it appears as if the victim of the challenge does not know they're about to get an egg cracked on their forehead. We can't know for sure if they're in on the challenge or not in most cases, but it probably doesn't hurt to give the victim a little warning beforehand, especially if you're doing the challenge with your kid.
