Who's 'Super Senior Gojo?' The Alternate Version Of Jujutsu Kaisen's Satoru Gojo Explained
Super Senior Gojo is the king of Gyatterson High School and Jujutsu Kaisen fans on TikTok are also obsessed with him.
Satoru Gojo, the JJK character, is a high school menace in this meme series. What started as a bunch of photo slideshow stories has developed into a whole alter-ego for the beloved manga character.
So, where did Super Senior Gojo memes start? What do they mean and who's still making them? Let's explain.
Where Did 'Super Senior Gojo' Come From?
Super Senior Gojo was created by a since-deleted TikToker named @gojothesenior. Back in October 2023, the TikToker started posting photo slideshows that read like comics. They starred high school versions of Jujutsu Kaisen characters including "Gojo the Super Senior."
A "super senior" is a student who's much older than their classmates because they were held back. By the time that they're a senior, they've been at the school for so long that they have attained "super" status.
Super Senior Gojo is the epitome of male super senior stereotypes because he's always flirting with freshmen girls who are much younger than him. In Super Senior Gojo slideshows and videos, he's often using lewd slang terms like "gyatt" and "grip" to satirize the negative cliché of a super senior's high libido.
So, when these slang terms and cliché are combined with Gojo's overdramatic cadence in JJK, Super Senior Gojo becomes a meme that can turn the dramatic-ness of "Domain Expansion" into "Grip Expansion."
Although the meme started on TikTok last year, it's trended going into this year as it's spread to YouTube. Animators and other video creators have really taken a liking to this format. They're being rewarded by going viral.
What's 'Gyatterson High School?'
Gyatterson High School is the imaginary high school that Super Senior Gojo attends. It's a play-on-words using the Gen Z slang term "gyatt," which means a woman's large behind.
The name plays into the genre of brain rot, which overloads slang to a nauseating degree said to rot the brain of those hearing it.
What Are Some Other Gojo Memes?
In the meme world, the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom has been on a tear for the past year. The anime and manga have quickly become one of the most memed subcultures in the Know Your Meme database. Many of the JJK memes star Gojo, who's an obvious fan favorite.
The most famous Gojo meme is probably Nah I'd Win, which shows the character saying the aforementioned line in a manga frame that was repeatedly retranslated. The meme is the main catalyst for the Lobotomy Kaisen trend that devolved the fanbase's memes into a so-called "lobotomy."
Other Gojo memes are a tad unsavory like Gojo Backshots and the infamous Gojo Figure Incident. Regardless, both are good case studies to examine how much this fanbase loves Satoru Gojo.
