Who Is Ciggybae, And How Did She First Go Viral?

Ciggybae is the TikTok handle of 19-year-old Indiana resident Whitney Brown. Brown maintains a relatively tame Instagram presence, having over 40,000 followers on her handle @homeskilla_whitnit. However, Brown first gained viral traction on TikTok, where even her first video posted all the way back in April 2022 gathered comments from people who compared her to "Rue," Zendaya's character from the HBOMax television show Euphoria.

How Did Ciggybae Gather Her Online Following?

Ciggybae continued to post videos on her TikTok, and often leaned into the comparisons her comments drew between her and Zendaya. A video posted in May 2022 showed her posing with a cutout of Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet as a reference to the Zendaya and Chalamet Stare meme that went viral in early 2022. Brown continued to joke about her similarities with Zendaya, as seen in a video posted in July 2023 that gathered over 47 million views and 7 million likes in just four months.

Did Kai Cenat Get Zendaya On His Stream?

On October 19th, 2023, Kai Cenat held a stream ahead of the release of Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 video game. Cenat wore a black Spider-Man suit and invited @Ciggybae onto the stream, calling her Zendaya and pretending as though she was playing her character MJ.
