Who Is The 'Fence Lady' And Why Is She Feuding With 'Tiffany Mraj?' The Viral 'Chainsaw Karen' Video Explained
There's a new Karen video going around online and it's earned its star the nicknames "Fence Lady" and "Chainsaw Karen." The video shows a Toronto woman and her husband destroying their neighbor's fence with an electric saw, leading many to wonder what's going on. Now, the fence lady has come out with her side of the story and people are learning that the woman filming might be the real Karen in the situation. Here's what you need to know.
What Is The 'Fence Lady' Video?
Back in May 2023, TikToker @tiffanymraj posted a video of her neighbors cutting down her fence with an electric saw. In the video, she yells back and forth with one of the neighbors, an Asian woman now known as the fence lady, trying to get her to stop to no avail. Mraj even goes onto the fence lady's property at one point and the fence lady pushes her, resulting in a cry of "I'm a minor" from Mraj.
The video gained millions of views and spread online over the following months before it was made private. Some of the earliest headlines about the video call Fence Lady a "crazy neighbor" and a Karen, suggesting she's in the wrong in the situation. Lately, however, viewers seem to have changed their minds.
Is 'Fence Lady' Or 'Tiffany Mraj' Right?
In August, months after the video went viral, the Fence Lady made a TikTok account (@fencelady6) and posted a video explaining her side of the story. In the video, she explains that the fence is on her property and blocks a pathway to her air conditioner unit, which she wants to remove. At the end of the video, Tiffany Mraj's sister approaches her and sprays her with a hose, which some TikTokers have called assault.
The video turned a lot of viewers onto the Fence Lady's side, resulting in videos reacting to the incident and showing support for the Fence Lady. Mraj went live on TikTok to try and win viewers back but many seemed unconvinced and Mraj ended up privatizing her TikTok account. Footage also came out of Mraj's mother telling the fence lady to learn English, resulting in some accusing her of being racist.
Recently, the Fence Lady posted another update on the situation, thanking everyone for their support. She also explained that the Mraj family did end up moving their fence onto the property line after their video went viral, but that the problem still isn't solved. She claims that, according to the land survey, there isn't supposed to be a fence, even on the property line.
