TikTok definitely has a knack for spawning weird, nonsensical fandoms that can emerge after just one viral video. A lot of these weird fanbases emerge in regards to one person that becomes a memetic character to exploit in fan edits. Enter Topher, the little brother of TikToker @allycat.03, who's earned some notable virality in only a few months.

Similar to Darius or the Corn Kid, Topher has spawned TopherTok. Basically, imagine NicheTok, but instead, it's all about this hyper-Southern kid. On the "For You" pages of many this week, they can't escape the grasp of TopherTok.

So how did this TikTok trend start? Who is TikTok's Topher and why does he have a cult following? Let's explain the meme.

Who Is Topher On TikTok?

As stated, Topher is the younger brother of TikToker @allycat.03, whose real name is Allyson Russell. Kristopher Russell (Topher) is her little brother and the two live in Kentucky and make TikToks that document their daily lives. Allyson predominantly went viral because of her Topher-centric content, mainly due to his mannerisms, voice and attitude which became addictive for a certain crowd.

Why Is Topher Viral On TikTok?

Topher first went viral on July 29th, 2021 in a since-deleted video from Allyson. The video showed them participating in a trend where photos were taken at various points on the screen. At one point, Topher flipped the camera over as a photo was taken of himself making a funny face. It earned over 364,000 views in ten months.

Despite this first appearance, the virality of Topher skyrocketed after Allyson exploited his love for Sprite in videos where he chugged a liter of the drink and burped like a madman. In these early videos, it's obvious why Topher's viral now. His aura emits wholesomeness, hyper-activity and modern Southern hospitality all in one package.

However, the video that ultimately created TopherTok in December 2022 had nothing to do with Sprite. Instead, it was a video taken at Christmas time in which Allyson asked the members of her dad's side of the family who they would warn others about. Of course, two of the answers were "Topher" which made sense after his high-flash appearance where he talked rapidly and proclaimed, "Y'all already know who I am."

What Is TopherTok And Where Did It Come From?

Due to Allyson's Christmas time video, a new audience discovered Topher, not knowing of his Sprite-filled past. Therefore, once they scrolled Allyson's page, they discovered all of Topher's lore and became infatuated with the (at first) seemingly insane character. Multiple fan edits of Topher surfaced on the platform, proving the virality of Kentucky's pride and joy.

How Old Is Topher From TikTok?

Topher's exact age is currently unknown, but according to some who attempted to determine how old he is based on the video, it's speculated that he's somewhere around 11 to 13 years old.
