Social media is mourning the loss of YouTuber Mikayla Raines, known for her adorable and informative videos documenting her animal sanctuary, the Save a Fox Rescue.

Raines reportedly took her own life after receiving hate from social media, and now, internet sleuths and vigilantes are pointing the finger at one particular Redditor, KazeoLion, as an example of the people who allegedly drove her to take her own life.

But is it fair to point the finger at KazeoLion, and did they really play a role in the alleged cyberbullying of Mikayla Raines? Here's what we know.

Who Is 'Mikayla Raines' And What Happened To Her?

Mikayla Raines is the founder of Save a Fox Rescue, a fox rescue and rehabilitation that looks to save foxes from harmful situations like fur farms.

Raines opened the rescue in 2017 and had been documenting it on YouTube for years. The YouTube channel helps fund the rescue and has gained over 2 million subscribers over the years.

On June 23rd, Raines' husband, Ethan, posted a video on the SaveaFox YouTube channel announcing that Raines had taken her own life due to online hate that had been growing over the years.

In the video, he mentions how Raines was on the autism spectrum and suffered from depression.

Through tears, he says that Raines' autism gave her a hyper-fixation for saving animals and that it was her greatest tool in helplessly saving animals, but also made her take hate comments to heart. He claims that the negative comments about herself and her rescue got to her, and she ultimately took her own life because of them.

Who Is 'KazeoLion' And Why Are They Being Exposed?

The news of Raines' death spread fast on social media, resulting in mourning and tributes to her work in late June 2025.

Numerous people also began digging into the purported hate and criticism toward Raines, with many pointing the finger at the now-private /r/SaveaFoxSnark snark subreddit, a forum dedicated to criticizing Raines and her foundation, as one of the biggest sources.

Criticism of Raines and her foundation has been going around online since 2021 at the earliest, with examples existing on Tumblr and Reddit from multiple users. The veracity of the allegations is often heavily debated wherever they're posted.

One user that stood out to some cybersleuths was Redditor u/KazeoLion, who had made several posts in 2023 to several subreddits sharing negative allegations about Raines.

These posts were uncovered and shared on sites like X and Reddit as the news of Raines' passing went viral, inspiring users to dig up all the information on KazeoLion they could to criticize the user for allegedly cyberbullying Raines.

In a short few days, KazeoLion's entire digital footprint has been shared often online alongside photos of the user dressed as Spamton. This information purportedly includes their name, gender identity, age and more, some of which could be entering doxxing territory.

The attention to KazeoLion increased when they made a post on Reddit claiming they are "not backing down" and do not regret what they posted about Raines, denying that they ever cyberbullied her.

They also complained about being "solely blamed" for her death, despite people also pointing the finger at other users who were found to have posted about Raines, such as Kellie D kruse and lenasabrewing.
