Where Does The Line 'I Am My Perimeter, My Perimeter Is Me' Come From? Snapiyy's TikTok Catchphrase Explained
If you've seen some amped-up first-person-shooter videos set to an old-timey motivational soldier speech on TikTok, you may be surprised to learn that the dialogue doesn't come from World War Two propaganda but actually originates from a stream hosted by Twitch streamer Snapiyy.
TikTokers have been making FPS shooting videos and jokes about locking into the best "peak spot" using Snapiyy's speech, which goes from "Thou shall show no fear" to "I am my perimeter, my perimeter is me." Here's where the meme originated, and how Snapiyy's Rainbow Siege Six fail video still ended up as a peak motivational audio.
Where Does 'I Am My Perimeter, My Perimeter Is Me' Come From?
In late March 2024, Twitch streamer Snapiyy posted a video showing him playing the first-person shooter game _Rainbow Six Siege. The video shows Snapiyy cornered in an area, leading him to deliver the following motivational speech in a pitch-perfect old-timey soldier accent:
Thou shall show no fear. In the mighty eyes of the Lord, I shall hold my post. This is where I make my stand, thou shall not abandon your post! I am my perimeter, my perimeter is me!
Unfortunately for Snapiyy, he was promptly shot by opposing forces after delivering his speech.
How Did 'I Am My Perimeter, My Perimeter Is Me' Become A Meme?
Snapiyy's motivational speech inspired other shooter game players to post their W's, as seen in posts by TikTokers like @davexb and @pureifxy.
Other TikTokers made fan art to accompany the speech, with @raziel463 and @accompanie posting pencil art matching different lines from Snapiyy's speech.
Why Are TikTokers Making Videos About 'Peak Spots'?
A "peak spot" essentially means "vantage point" in first-person shooters, and Snapiyy's speech saw TikTokers showing what peak spots they would use in their own homes if the need arises. TikTokers @issa_gli and @cxsey_07 posted videos showing their peak spots from an invader's vantage point, with themselves being barely noticeable until the final frame.
