Every once in a while, a Twitter user stumbles into a nugget of wisdom so profound, so beautifully poetic, it has no choice but to become a meme. Such is the case with "When God sings with His creations, will a turtle not be part of the choir?"

Where Did "Will a Turtle Not Be Part of The Choir" Come From?

Unsurprisingly, the answer to this question can be found in a random thread that up to that point had nothing to do with God, choirs, or nuggets of morality. It did, however, have to do with turtles, and it came from the philosopher @bigfatmoosepssy.

In 2021, a Twitter user had a simple question: is anyone IRL named Sheldon? In response, bigfatmoosepssy replied that their class turtle in 6th grade was named Sheldon. When another user implied that didn't count because, after all, "that's a turtle," @bigfatmoosepssy hit them with "When God sings with His creations, will a turtle not be part of the choir?

While not confirmed, this seems like it may be a riff on the folk song "All God's Critters Have a Place in the Choir" by Bill Staines, which lists how many animals on Earth could contribute to the big orchestra.

How Is "Will a Turtle Not Be Part of The Choir" Memed?

Over the following two years, the post has inspired a variety of riffs. Some folks in awe of the post simply immortalized it with video parodies, sometimes using AI tools to have other pop cultures say the line or setting the entire interaction to heavenly music.

However, by far the majority of memes that stemmed from the original post were phrasal templates, as users could easily swap out "turtle" for another supposedly marginalized creature.
