LGBTQ+ slang terms have a tendency to be adopted by mainstream Stan and Stan-adjacent communities online, whether its terms like serving cunt or being gagged. But an underappreciated term that has nevertheless has lasting influence on meme-speak in the early 2020s is the word "Bussy," a cheeky way to refer to a man's bottom or "Boy Pussy."

Despite the fact that use of the word bussy predates the internet, the term did see renewed attention and usage online in the past few years, notably kicked off by a Buzzfeed interview featuring Welsh actor Taron Egerton. Here's how a slang term for a gay man's naughties went on to inspire a host of ussy themed words, to the point where "Ussy" actually became the American Dialect Society's word of the year for 2022.

What Is The Earliest Recorded Use Of The Term 'Bussy' Online?

According to Urban Dictionary, LGBTQ+ people have been using the word "bussy" to refer to a man's "hole" for decades, with one guy describing it as a "slang term used by gay men to connote Boy-Pussy. In reference to their anus. Bussy has been used for at least 15 years by gay men to describe their man hole of love!" The definition is short, to the point, and accurate, as the term "bussy" has indeed been in use since at least the early 1990s.

How Did The Use Of The Term 'Bussy' Grow Online?

There exists some sporadic use of the term online in the 2010s, as seen in a 2014 tweet by one ticked-off gay person who challenged anyone confused about his gender to "come over here and eat this bussy."

But it wasn't until a May 19th, 2019 YouTube video posted by Buzzfeed that the word "busy" received widespread scrutiny and interest online. Welsh actor Taron Egerton, know for his work in the Kingsman series, read out a tweet that said, "Taron Egerton is one white boy that I trust to destroy my busy." To this, Egerton asked, "What's bussy?"


What's Up With All The -Ussy Themed Slang Terms Online?

While bussy is itself a portmanteau of the words "boy" and "pussy," there's no doubt that it was responsible for the string of -ussy themed slang terms that exploded on the internet in the early 2020s. There is no better example of this phenomenon than "Clussy," a term used to refer to Clown girls.

The Clussy trend started when YouTuber and animator Speedoru uploaded the video "Disgraced Attorney" in late June 2022, including the little-known clown girl character from the anime doing a suggestive "suspender snap" motion originally portrayed in a Tumblr GIF.
