What's With The Parodies and Memes Of Prince Harry's New Memoir?
Prince Harry is no stranger to publicity, having grown up with a reputation for being an edgy troublemaker who played strip poker in Vegas and wore a Nazi costume to a Halloween party, besides marrying Meghan Markle, some perceived to be a great sin against his country.
But the "spare," meaning second in line to the throne behind his older brother, may have had enough with the media speculation and paparazzi photos, as he has decided to share his story himself with the help of his new memoir, also titled Spare. But not everyone seems to be taking kindly to the anecdotes emerging from his book, which range from being pissed that his stepmother turned his room into a closet, to admitting to killing 25 Afghani people in the war.
Where Did The First Headlines About Spare Come From?
The Guardian seemed to have gotten their hands on an early copy of Prince Harry's tell-all, with all subsequent news about it stemming from the newspaper's initial coverage. The first media company to make the headlines go viral, however, was on Twitter, with PopBase sharing news about Harry being socked in the face by his brother. They also went on to share that Harry was goaded into wearing his infamous Nazi costume by his brother and sister-in-law.
How Did The Headlines About Spare Become A Meme?
Headlines and discussions about Harry's memoir, which some took as a brave act of radical honesty, and others as a coward's last hurrah, were brutal but eye-catching. At one point, a headline made it appear as though Harry was taking a jab at his balding brother by saying that he resembles their mother, Princess Diana, lesser and lesser every day. Another headline spoke about how his stepmother turned his room into a walk-in closet.
