What's With The 'National Mango Day' Memes On TikTok? The July 22nd 'Dark Mango Psychology' And 'Mango Phonk' Meme Revival Explained
Most people might not even know that "National Mango Day" is a thing, but now, thanks to TikTok, that's changing.
Every July 22nd is National Mango Day, but this year, the holiday is garnering significant attention on the app as an apocalyptic date thanks to two massive memes related to mangoes making the rounds online lately: Mango Phonk and Dark Mango Psychology.
So, what exactly are these mango memes, why is TikTok so obsessed with them, and why do TikTokers think something bad is set to happen on National Mango Day? Here's what we know.
What Is 'National Mango Day,' 'Dark Mango Psychology' And 'Mango Phonk?'
National Mango Day has fallen every July 22nd since as early as 2017. It's a day for celebrating mangoes, a delicious fruit beloved by many around the world.
Before 2025, only the most die-hard mango fans likely even knew National Mango Day existed, but now, the date is going viral on TikTok thanks to Mango Phonk and Dark Mango Psychology.
Mango Phonk is a viral song remix of a video in which a TikToker pours a bucket of mangoes onto a table. The song went viral back in May 2024 and led the way to the 2025 meme, Dark Mango Psychology.
Dark Mango Psychology is a copypasta meme based on a video in which a guy tells a story about playing the Roblox game Blox Fruit with a mouthful of mango, saying it required "Dark Mango Psychology" to do so.
This copypasta and audio took a dark turn in 2025 when TikTokers paired it with a Trollge face and the Mango Phonk remix, resulting in some absurdist horror memes that nonsensically delve into dark themes and imagery.
How Is 'National Mango Day' Used In Memes?
In the days leading up to July 22nd, 2025, memes warning TikTokers about National Mango Day started going viral. The memes tend to use dark imagery and Trollge faces, similarly to the Dark Mango Psychology memes, to suggest that something apocalyptic and evil will happen on the day. Many of these memes also use the Mango Phonk song.
The National Mango Day memes are essentially a way to reference these two popular meme formats and keep the joke going. Out of context, the memes might not make a whole lot of sense, making them act as an inside joke.
Now, on July 22nd, memes about the horrors of National Mango Day are going more viral than ever.
