What's Up With This Messed Up Picture Of Shigeru Miyamoto?

Shigeru Miyamoto has seen better days, if this picture of the Nintendo exec with bloodshot eyes and horrible hair is to be believed.

Luckily, it's not. It's false. It never happened. It's just a myth. Regardless, this unfortunate picture of Miyamoto, known as F'd Miyamoto, has been spreading online as a meme over the following few months. Let's break down why this is happening.

What Is F'd Miyamoto?

At E3 2015, Miyamoto appeared as part of Nintendo's presentation. As 4chan is wont to do, they made photoshops of all the Nintendo execs, resulting in this image:

For five years, the picture laid dormant until it found its way into the ANTONBLAST Discord in October of 2020. It remained an inside joke for indie gamers, sneaking out of Twitter when the Pizza Tower account tweeted a meme featuring the image in early 2021.

Still, the picture remained relatively obscure until the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023. On November 15th, 2022, Twitter user @ihavesexhourly posted a thread of GIFs that had been brewing in Discords, helping the image reach a much wider audience than it had previously.

In this thread, Twitter user @OMinecraftera claimed credit for the majority of the GIFs, along with user @Dudhatted.

On April 17th, Twitter user @jayfii_ brought the meme to its widest audience yet with a Bowser "Peaches" edit.

What Does F'd Miyamoto Mean?

Now this is a good question. What does this meme signify? Well, nothing really. Instead, F'd Miyamoto is a bit of a bait-and-switch meme where the very existence of this goofy picture, especially when it's unexpected, is enough to send its fans into hysterics.
