What's Up With All Memes About Omni-Man Saying He Misses His Wife? The 'Invincible' Meme Explained
Fans of the show Invincible know that Omni-Man is not winning the Father of the Year Award anytime soon, but a comic book panel from over a decade ago shows the supervillain expressing a twinge of regret and humanity as he contemplates that he might miss his human wife.
But as is the case with any depiction of sincerity in any piece of popular media, the comic book panel featuring Omni-Man became the subject of edits, memes, and jokes over a decade after it was first released. Here's a recap of how "I think I miss my wife" went viral in 2024.
Where Does The Panel 'I Think I Miss My Wife' Come From?
The panel showing Omni-Man looking off to the left with his face bathed in shadows as he says, "I think I miss my wife" comes from an August 2007, issue 45 of the Invincible comics.
The panel gained renewed interest in 2023 in the months leading up to the second season of Invincible, which follows the arc in issue 45, and ends with Omni-Man delivering the line about his wife.
How Did The 'I Miss My Wife' Panel Become A Meme?
Soon after the final episode of Invincible season 2, Redditor /u/ThePumpkinBilly posted fan art of Omn-Man saying the phrase as his bug-wife, a Thraxan alien_ approaches him from behind.
Memes referencing the quote continued to spread in April, with X users @Yotakuboi and @CaptoraArt posting redraws featuring Godzilla and Darth Vader saying the line.
What Are Some More 'I Miss My Wife' Memes?
Later edits of the meme retained the original comic book panel but edited Omni-Man's quote, showing him "missing" different things or even different wives.
