The internet has been fascinated with a particular TikToker who goes by the name of Pinkydoll on the app. Her TikTok LIVEs have inspired countless memes, giving her the nickname "Ice Cream So Good Girl."

In the now-infamous video, Pinkydoll spouts multiple, odd catchphrases like "gang gang," "yes yes yes," and (of course) "ice cream so good." Although it might seem chaotic, the reasoning behind her weird call-and-response energy is rather simple, likened to the budding livestream genre of NPC streaming.

So, who is Pinkydoll and why are her TikTok LIVEs inspiring so many memes? Let's explain.

Who Is TikToker 'Pinkydoll?'

Pinkydoll is a TikToker and content creator from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, as stated in her Instagram bio. Although her TikTok bio states that she's 19 years old, an old video she posted in April 2023 reveals that she once said her birthday was April 22nd, 1996. If true, that means she's actually 27 years old.

Pinkydoll began posting content to TikTok in late December 2022, uploading her first still-accessible video on December 24th, 2022. As evident in the memes made about her, Pinkydoll gained viral awareness when screen recordings of her TikTok livestreams went viral across platforms like Twitter and Instagram. In turn, she seems to have made a career out of posting.

What Is The 'Ice Cream So Good' Meme?

Pinkydoll earned mainstream awareness when a LIVE of hers was reposted to Twitter this month. In the LIVE video, she's seen receiving many "gifts" (TikTok's word for donations) while rapidly repeating multiple catchphrases.

The most notable phrases were of course "gang gang," "yes yes yes," and "mmm ice cream so good" which was accompanied by many licking sounds that meme creators translated to "slurp." The reason she's saying these specific phrases is because she's thanking people for sending her specific gifts. For instance, when she says "ice cream so good" it's becuase she's being gifted an "ice cream cone" from a viewer.

After the video went viral, people online relayed that they were disturbed by the video, seemingly not understanding what the heck she was doing. In turn, people started to make memes using her catchphrases, making what's called "slang overload" memes by spamming the words as the caption to any image macro.

Many of the memes that followed the format compared the phrases to losing one's mind or going crazy. Using, "Ice cream so good" in a meme became a way to symbolize our modern internet dystopia where people watch weird livestreams like Pinkydoll's and actually pay her money to do so.

What Is 'NPC Streaming?'

The phenomenon that is now known as NPC streaming is a genre of live streaming where the person pretends to be an NPC, which is a video game term that stands for "non-playable character."

In video games like Grand Theft Auto or Skyrim, there are always countless NPCs to interact with. They have prerecorded soundbites, quotes and messages. Usually, they're insignificant, hence their name "non-playable."

On TikTok and elsewhere, calling people an NPC is a humorous insult. For NPC streamers, pretending to be an NPC for an audience is a well-paying career.

How Much Money Does TikToker Pinkydoll Make?

First of all, Pinkydoll is paid through virtual gifts that vary in payout amount. Every virtual gift is measured in TikTok "coins" with one coin equalling about 1.3 cents in USD.

Let's take the "ice cream cone" gift for example. It's worth 1 coin and therefore 1.3 cents. Pinkydoll would have to receive 1,000 ice cream cones in one TikTok LIVE to receive $13.00. However, even if she made that $13.00, TikTok as the streaming entity takes a whopping 50 percent commission of the earnings. Therefore, she'd make only $6.50.

Receiving 1,000 ice cream cones might sound like a lot of work because, well, it kind of is, with little payoff. However, remember that an "ice cream cone" is one of the least valuable gifts a streamer can receive on TikTok. There are plenty of gifts worth 99 virtual coins that Pinkydoll receives almost every time she streams.

Especially after her newfound virality, Pinkydoll's LIVE viewership has more than doubled, leading to more money in her bank account. Maybe everyone should adopt her money-making approach and finally fulfill their hustle culture milestones.
