Numerous innocent TikTokers were exposed to the so-called "Gingerbread Nails Filter" this week as it's gone viral. It sounds like a wholesome Christmas filter, but it's far from that.

The shocking 777 filter has caused mass distress and hysteria (to say the least). Its contents are already being compared to the infamous New Nails & My Kitty video because both sneak in a lewd body part that some might miss on a first glance.

So, what is the Gingerbread Nails filter? Where did it come from and what does it show? Let's explain.

What's The 'Gingerbread Nails' Filter On TikTok?

The Gingerbread Nails filter was a TikTok filter that users discovered in June. The filter shows a person's hand displaying their new nails, which were gingerbread-themed.

However, right past the person's nails was their bottomless frontside. The person was biologically male, so, you can guess what was visible.

People who saw it first then posted videos, warning others not to look it up. Of course, the engagement bait strategy quickly inspired curiosity.

Where Did The 'Gingerbread Nails' TikTok Filter Come From?

The identity of the person who created the Gingerbread Nails filter is unknown. It's been purported that their username was @gingerbreadnailsfilter but not much more is known about them.

Before they were banned (because they created the naughty filter), they also shared a different 777 filter called "Preppy Hearts," which displayed two Roblox characters dancing with a twerking woman in the top-left corner. Whoever this person is, there's a pattern in their behavior (and it's not exactly wholesome).

What's A '777 Filter?'

A 777 filter is a genre of TikTok filters in which explicit imagery jumpscares people who use it. These filters are presented as innocent because they use tame thumbnails and names. However, once used, they're entirely raunchy and they amass discourse based on how they slipped through the cracks of TikTok's moderation team.

In turn, they're usually removed within a day. But ones like the Mr. Clean Filter and Fav Princess Peach Filter made enough of a buzz during their reign that they've lasted in TikTok's collective consciousness ever since (because people were scarred by them).
