Far-right political commentator and self-professed white supremacist Nick J. Fuentes revels in controversy. Fuentes hit a rough patch in the late 2010s when he was deplatformed from many social media sites, but with a new Rumble show and a reinstated X / Twitter account, Fuentes' brand of fringe, shocking rhetoric is back on the market — particularly this week following an inflammatory catchphrase that's spreading online.

The phrase "my body, my choice" has always been associated with women trying to codify abortion laws that fell into peril with the overturning of Roe v. Wade, but in a livestream celebrating Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, Fuentes made it a point mock women worried about their bodily autonomy.

As part of a longer tirade that also mocked women attempting to "break the glass ceiling," Fuentes repeatedly claimed, "Your body, my choice," adding, "Men win again, yes. We control your bodies."

The catchphrase is far from the most controversial coined by Fuentes and his group known as "groypers," but it has sent shockwaves through many younger American women who are already purportedly being harassed by male peers adopting the line.

So what does "Your Body, My Choice" mean exactly, how did it start, and why has it become so widespread online lately? Here's a recap of how the catchphrase made its rounds.

Who Is Nick Fuentes, And Where Did The Phrase 'Your Body, My Choice' Come From?

Nick Fuentes is a controversial far-right political commentator known for espousing fringe beliefs about white supremacy, anti-LGBTQ+ legalization and reversing women's suffrage.

Fuentes was deplatformed from nearly every social media platform in 2020 for things like hate speech, but he managed to hold onto his audience of extremists by working with fringe influencers like Alex Jones and later being reinstated on X by Elon Musk when he acquired ownership of the site and then unbanned numerous controversial accounts over the last two years.

In a Rumble livestream hosted on the day of the election, Fuentes paused on a scene showing two female Kamala Harris supporters and said:

TFW you're totally not pressed. TFW we control your bodies. Hey b----, we control your bodies. Guess what, guys win again, okay. Men win again, yes. We control your bodies. Hi! I'm your Republican Congressman. It's your body, my choice. And men win again. There will never ever be a female President. It's over. Glass ceiling? It's a ceiling made of f------ bricks."

He reiterated his beliefs on his Twitter / X account again, simply writing, "Your body, my choice. Forever." The post gathered over 48 million views and 37,000 likes in three days.
