You might not think that philosophy and e-girls have much crossover, but the "Hegelian E-Girl Council" is here to prove you wrong. At least, they were here before they quickly started losing members due to in-fighting and differences in beliefs.

So what even is a "Hegelian e-girl," what do they stand for and why are they inspiring memes on social media? Here's what you need to know.

What Is The Hegelian E-Girl Council?

The Hegelian E-Girl Council is a group of self-proclaimed e-girls who subscribe to the philosophical beliefs of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. More specifically, they seem interested in spreading Hegel's idea of dialectical thinking to solve online social and political problems.

Dialectics involves understanding change and development in ideas and reality with a three-step process: a thesis (an idea), an antithesis (a conflicting idea) and synthesis (a resolution combining aspects of both).

If that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to you, you're not alone. The Hegelian E-Girl Council, which was started by three core members, Anna, Nikki and Sanje, seems to cause confusion everywhere they pop up online, with many simply not understanding what they're all about.

Perhaps the best chance you have at understanding their philosophies is to listen to their appearance on the Horseshoe Theory Podcast with content creator Jreg, during which they explain their politics, Hegelian philosophy and their goals as simply as possible.

How Is The Hegelian E-Girl Council Discussed Online?

Ever since they popped up in May 2024, word of the Hegelian E-Girl Council has been spreading online. Many are simply amused by the name of the group, with Hegelianism and e-girls being a bizarre and not exactly straightforward combination.

This has led to many memes about the absurdity of the group, the arguably confusing way they present themselves and share their ideas and the seemingly constant controversy surrounding them.

While the Hegelian E-Girl Council seemed to be making a good name for themselves for a few months, even holding symposiums, the group isn't doing so well lately.

In August, three members of the group announced their departure for a variety of similar reasons, including some members allegedly propping up extremists just for clout and sway and other members having a vague or tilted understanding or implementation of Hegelianism in general.

With several core members now gone, the future of the Hegelian E-Girl Council seems uncertain at best.
