One of the hottest TikTok memes right now is based on a decade-plus old YouTube music video by the once-popular YouTuber Tobuscus. The video in question is an old Minecraft fan song with over 90 million views and it's being used in a series of absurd memes linking it to characters from a variety of fandoms. Here's what you need to know.

What Is The 'Do You Like My Sword, Sword' Song?

Back in 2012, YouTuber Tobuscus, known for comedy songs and music videos like "Nugget in a Biscuit,", posted a Minecraft fan song titled "I Can Swing My Sword." The song and music video largely centers around a Minecraft character bragging about their diamond sword. The video went viral, garnering over 95 million views over the next 12 years.

The song was covered and became the subject of memes throughout the 2010s. This includes everything from videos recreating the song with Minecraft music note blocks to versions of the song sung in different genres and more. Tobuscus even performed the song several times during live shows.

How Is 'Do You Like My Sword, Sword' Used In Memes?

The song was reuploaded to TikTok a few times throughout the 2020s and started going viral in August of 2024. The most popular memes put a red circle around a cutout of a character featured throughout the original video, with an arrow pointing to another, unrelated character from an unrelated scene. The song then plays over the scene, suggesting the character is singing it.

Other TikTokers are redrawing the cutout as a character from another fandom. The characters are drawn holding a diamond sword horizontally along their bodies, as if showing the sword off.
