One of TikTok users' favorite things to do is post videos that reference something in as vague a way as possible, almost forcing viewers to do their own deep dive to learn more. Lots of the time, the things they're referring to are sexual in nature, like the knee thing or why the tip of the penis is mushroom shaped. The belly press thing is no different and refers to a sexual technique that can help stimulate a partner's g-spot more intensely. Here's a full rundown.

Where Does 'The Belly Press Thing' Come From?

"The belly press thing" has been going around online since the early 2010s. An article by Men's Health from 2010 calls it the "sandwich trick" and Glamour magazine shared the technique in 2016, claiming it was taught as part of a "squirting workshop." In January 2022, TikToker @yourpalric posted a thirsty video writing, "When she asks why I'm pressing down on her stomach" that gained over 6 million views, referring directly to the technique in as sly a way as possible. Videos referring to the technique kept on spreading over the course of the year, eventually becoming colloquially known as "the belly press thing" for lack of a better name.

So what is the belly press thing? Essentially, it's a sexual technique where one partner presses down on a woman's stomach just above the pubic bone during sex. According to Sexologist Carol Queen, who spoke with Glamour in 2016, this pushes on the woman's bladder, which is right above the g-spot. Pressing above the pubic bone pushes the g-spot, which can effectively stimulate it from the outside. When done during sex, it pushes the g-spot closer to the penis, making it easier to hit and resulting in a more intense orgasm.

How Is 'The Belly Press Thing' Used On TikTok?

On TikTok, users spread the word of the belly press thing through vague videos referencing it by "the belly press thing," avoiding describing it in any detail. While some TikTokers have taken the time to describe it in great detail, such as doctors, most of the videos consist of women asking how a man they're with knows the technique in the first place, suggesting it means they have a long sexual history. Other videos by male creators have them thirst-trapping and bragging about knowing the technique as if it puts them a few notches higher on the sex-having ladder. It doesn't, but it's nice to see that both men and women can get in on the trend.
