Now anyone can take a look at what jaded minds of people who worked on the beloved children's show have spawned, and SpongeBob me boy, what have they spawned. Learn more about the discovery and take a peek at the book's vulgar contents in our brief explainer.

What Is The Behind Closed Doors SpongeBob Artbook?

Behind Closed Doors is an artbook of obscene and crude drawings of SpongeBob SquarePants characters. The book is a collection of Post-It drawings of SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward and Mr. Krabs engaging in sexual activities with each other, with lots of toilet humor involved.

The book was first mentioned in a 2012 interview published in comic art magazine Hogan's Alley, in which shows' former writer and artist Kent Osborn mentions "hilarious, crude drawings of SpongeBob on Post-It notes" done by storyboard artists who worked on the show. The notes would be placed on the back of the door so they would not be seen by anyone when it was opened, hence the name Behind Closed Doors.

Cartoonist Sam Henderson collected the notes and printed them out in a single artbook, giving them out to the staff. The contents of the book were unknown to the general public, until 2023, when it was discovered by a lost media researcher.

Who Discovered Behind Closed Doors?

In July 2023, YouTuber LSuperSoniqQ was sent a copy of the book by a person who got it from one of the crew members years ago. On July 18th, LSuperSonicQ uploaded a YouTube video telling the story of the book and demonstrating six of the images found inside it. He also uploaded the uncensored drawings to Internet Archive.

Where Can I Find Behind Closed Doors?

While we can't show you the uncensored contents of the artbook here, you can sate your curiosity without judgment by finding it on Internet Archive, where the person who made the discovery uploaded the cover and six of the book's pages. You can find censored versions of some of the drawings below:

Who Were The People Who Made The Drawings

Sam Henderson, the cartoonist who collected the drawings for the book, deliberately left out the names of the people who contributed the drawings. However, Henderson made anagrams of the names and put them on the back of the book, which has not been revealed. One of the people who we know for sure contributed some of the drawings is SpongeBob SquarePants writer and storyboard director Kent Osborne, who admitted to it himself in the 2012 interview.

However, some users online made claims that they could recognize the art style and handwriting of particular crew members!
