The internet might be thought of as a kind of dream world, attached to our reality by invisible forces (WiFi) and full of strange spiritual beings, such as Govy's Dream Tiger. This latest meme cryptid appeared to a Twitter / X user in a dream, but what's the story and the meaning behind it? Let's explain.

Where Did The Dream Tiger Come From?

On May 28th, South Korean artist @govy9807 posted a tiger, drawn as if it were in an ancient scroll, that appeared to wear an ink-black tentacled mask that wrapped around its entire body. They said this feline Slenderman, with dark ribbons rolling out from its stripes and piercing yellow eyes, was revealed to him in a dream.

Govy gave no indication whether the dream was a nightmare or a pleasant romp on the astral plane. It is unknown whether the tiger spirit is malevolent or benevolent.

Artists took on the Dream Tiger as a redraw challenge. If this spirit's goal was to replicate itself and spread across human minds, then it certainly chose a good mind to visit. Goby's tiger has been redrawn in a variety of styles, by a variety of users and placed in countless new contexts.

The dream tiger has been appreciated and redrawn by all types of people, with all types of proclivities when it comes to depicting animals.

What Does The Dream Tiger Mean?

The dream tiger's intentions are unknown, but beings from astral planes have historically visited sleeping humans quite often, if the world's mythological traditions are to be believed. The tiger with its ink-black octopus-like mask and cloak is quite visually striking and a fun thing to draw for artists looking for a challenge.
