Wade Wilson, also known as the "Deadpool Killer," though he shares no relation to the comic book character Deadpool save for sharing a name, was sentenced to death earlier this week after he murdered Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43, in Florida in 2019.

Despite being found guilty in June and developing an affiliation with white supremacy in prison, he has attracted a controversially fervent fandom online.

Here's what's going on with the bizarre memes and thirsty fan cams for Wade Wilson.

What Did Wade Wilson Do?

In October 2019, Wade Wilson strangled Kristine Melton, 35, after sleeping in her bed. He then strangled Diane Ruiz, 43, and proceeded to run her over multiple times with a car. He was arrested and taken into custody in Lee County on October 8th, 2019.

While in prison, Wilson was charged with organizing an escape attempt. He also developed an affiliation with the white supremacy group "Unforgiven." He tattooed a white supremacy symbol on his face.

On June 27th, 2024, he was found guilty for the murders, and the jury recommended he receive the death penalty, which is legal in Florida. On August 27th, the judge in the case, Nicholas Thompson, sentenced Wilson to death.

What's Up With Wade Wilson's TikTok Fandom?

Around the time of his June trial, TikTokers discovered Wilson and apparently found him attractive. In week leading up to his guilty verdict, TikTokers began posting fancams about his look at the trial, as well as older photos of Wilson before he got his white supremacist face tattoos.

Some women started to send large sums of money to petitions looking to spare Wilson. A subreddit for this purpose was also created, though the discussion there is split between his fans and people expressing horror at his crimes.

There has been some discussion about why Wilson has attracted a fandom, as many are horrified that some women would find a man who has committed such a heinous crime attractive. The phenomenon is not unheard of — after Netflix released The Ted Bundy Tapes, social media was similarly filled with posts of people expressing thirst over the serial killer.

At any rate, Wilson has been sentenced to death. It is unknown when the sentence will be carried out, but it is unlikely the wave of thirsty fan cams will change the outcome.
