Roblox players across TikTok are freaking out right now about Error Code 1001. The error code, which warns players that there is another device near them and tells them to call the police, has been going viral across the platform as users attempt to recreate it and share their experiences with it. But is the error code real, or is it just a rumor? Here's what you need to know.

What Is 'Error Code 1001' In Roblox?

The earliest known mention of an error code 1001 in Roblox is a post to the Fandom page for the Roblox Experience Rise of Nations. In the post, a user claims they received it and asks what it means. Another commenter tells them it happens "when an Update, Repair or deleting of an app Fails." However, TikTokers have a very different meaning for the error code.

TikToker @grotyneverdies2 posted a video about the error in early August 2023 and is the first known TikToker to discuss it. In the video, they allege that it was removed from the game in 2013 and offer a mockup of what it looked like. According to the user, error 1001 appears when there is another device detected near the player, warning them to call 9-1-1 if they believe they are alone, suggesting someone is in the house.

How Is 'Roblox Error Code 1001' Used In Memes?

Ever since the error code was shared in early August, TikTokers have been going viral by posting videos about the code. Some of the videos offer alleged stories about first-hand experiences with the code, while others offer mockups of what the code might have looked like.

Some videos even claim to show real footage of the code affecting players, causing the game to freeze or glitch when the error, reading, "Possible Raid Warning: We have detected another Device in your house, in case you are alone, call 911 quickly," comes up.

Is 'Error Code 1001' Real?

Despite all the videos and posts claiming error 1001 exists, there is no real evidence that error code 1001 exists. Many TikTokers claim that the warning was removed from the game in 2013 and last seen in 2011, but again, there is no real evidence to back these claims up. It's more likely that the error code is a sort of creepypasta created to give viewers a little scare.

The 2022 post is the only known post made about an error code 1001 in Roblox prior to 2023. Before that, there is no evidence of the error code existing.
