What Is Caktus AI? The AI Tool Made To Write Your Homework, Explained
The launch of ChatGPT in December 2023 set off a furor about AI's potential to automate all writing and dissolve the need for copywriters and marketing interns entirely. But one less-anticipated use for the powerful chatbot was seen as obvious in hindsight.
Who has the most to gain from a program that can spew coherent responses to a well-phrased question? The answer is every lazy student ever. Here's how one guy got the bright idea to capitalize on AI-powered academic espionage.
What Is Caktus AI?
Caktus AI, much like ChatGPT, is an AI-based language model founded by a former Notre Dame football player named Harrison Leonard. Unlike ChatGPT, however, Caktus AI's interface and marketing are designed to target high school and college students, promising help with writing entire essays, resumes, cover letters, class notes and more.
Another thing that sets Caktus AI apart from ChatGPT is Leonard's claim that Caktus AI can bypass plagiarism checks that have landed students cheating with ChatGPT in hot water.
How Do I Use Caktus AI?
The website adds new users via a waitlist, with 500 to 1000 new users being admitted daily. Users can also pay to skip the queue, with premium access provided at $9.99 monthly or $59.99 yearly. The website also has a referral system that gifts 10,000 credits to each user that invites a friend to use the platform via a referral code.
