"You look easy to draw" is a catchphrase known as a rare insult used to make fun of someone with a simple or cartoonish face. The expression was originally coined on March 25th, 2020, when X user @KonMalick5 posted a photo of himself. The following day, X user @sewphy replied to him and said, "U look easy to draw." @KonMalick5 responded, "Try," and then @sewphy replied back with a quick doodle of him. Over two years, @sewphy's drawing gained roughly 5,300 likes, kicking off the initial meme.
How Did 'You Look Easy To Draw' Become A Meme Catchphrase?
The catchphrase slowly grew as an insult on social media over the years after the original instance. For example, On April 6th, 2020, TikToker @hoeash3s posted a duet in which she claimed that the other person was easy to draw, gaining over 200,000 plays and 28,000 likes in four years while further building upon the trend.
In 2022, memetic usage of the phrase persisted on TikTok, evident in a video posted by TikToker @justinhanjob on October 7th, which received roughly 1.5 million plays and 224,000 likes in two years.
Since then, it's continued spreading online as more and more people incorporate it into comments and replies, slowly bringing awareness to the comedic insult and phrase.
