The latest copypasta to take over Twitter is all at once delighting, confusing and annoying users across the site. The "plap plap get pregnant" pasta is being applied both genuinely and ironically to users' most desired characters and for many, it's revealing a little too much information about the people they come across on Twitter day-to-day. Here's what you need to know.

What Does 'Plap Plap Get Pregnant' Mean?

To understand the meme, you first need to understand what "plap" means. Plap is an onomatopoeia for a specific type of slapping noise that might happen during a passionate act of love. "Get pregnant" is fairly self-explanatory; in the context of the meme, it's used to express a desire to get a certain character pregnant.

A copypasta specifically combining these two terms repeatedly first popped up on Twitter in late May 2023, used over an image from an adult manga series. From there, the copypasta took off across the site over the next few days.

How Is 'Plap Plap Get Pregnant' Used In Memes?

The copypasta is used in two ways. The first way is genuine, where it is applied to a character that the poster is genuinely infatuated with to show their desire for the character. The second way is ironically, where it's applied to things like McChicken sandwiches to express that same desire in a comedic way. It can be hard to tell the two apart sometimes, which really says a lot about society.

The popularity of the meme quickly became controversial on Twitter. It began to annoy many users, who blasted it for being unfunny, annoying and revealing too much information in general.
