Hololive fans made the cryptic phrase "JDON" go viral online after a few of their favorite VTubers accidentally coined the word during a game of telephone on YouTube.

The seemingly nonsensical word comes from an interaction between VTubers Todoroki Hajima, Kobo Kanaeru, Hakos Baelz and Kaela Kovalskia, who all tried and failed to convey one very Australian phrase to each other correctly.

Here's why you might have seen the line JDON MY SOUL trending on the internet recently, from the first fateful game of Telephone to all the lore and art Hololive fans have created about the phrase.

Where Does The Word 'Jdon' Come From?

The word Jdon comes from a February 18th, 2024 stream hosted by Hololive VTuber Hakos Baelz. The stream showed various Hololive VTubers playing a game of Telephone, which is when one phrase is repeated across a circle of people, often leading to misheard lines and miscommunications.

One such miscommunication happened when it was time for Australian VTuber Hakos Baelz to introduce a new sentence to the circle. About an hour into the stream, VTuber Todoroki Hajime can be heard mispronouncing part of the phrase, "G'day mate, haven't had brekkie yet so might go on a maccas run soon?"

The group of VTubers joked about the mispronunciation of "maccas run" as "macca jdon," misinterpreting the line as "Jdon My Soul" instead of "maccas run soon."

How Did 'Jdon My Soul' Become A Meme?

Various Hololive fans found the miscommunication very endearing, and shared memes and fanart about the word "Jdon" in the days following the incident.

X user @hadiruto posted a Pepe Silvia meme using Kaela Kovalskia's likeness, while X user @Kukie_nyan posted an edit of Hako singing a song called "Jdon My Soul."
