Guy Beahm, better known online as streamer Dr Disrespect, has made a cryptic post to X / Twitter after a brief hiatus following some troubling allegations regarding his 2020 Twitch ban. The post has inspired a wave of criticism across social media, becoming a massive meme and giving social media users another reason to hate on the streamer. So why exactly did Beahm make the post and what does it mean? Here's what we know.

What Does Dr Disrespect's 'Chess vs. Checkers' Post Mean?

At the end of June 2024, Dr Disrespect was accused of, years ago, using Twitch's now-defunct Whisper DM feature to talk inappropriately with a minor, resulting in his sudden and mysterious ban from the platform in 2020. Beahm did not outright deny the allegations and announced he'd take a hiatus from streaming. Now, that hiatus seems to be winding down after Beahm made a cryptic post to X at the end of July.

The post shows Beahm as Dr Disrespect sitting at one end of a chess board, his fingers tented. On his side of the board are chess pieces, while checkers pieces are on the other side. While Beahm hasn't given us a concrete answer as to what the post means, it seems to suggest that he's "playing chess" while his opponents, maybe his haters or those who have cut ties with him since the allegations came forward, are playing checkers, arguably a much simpler game. Hopefully, time will tell what exactly the post is trying to say.

How Is The 'Chess vs. Checkers' Post Used In Memes?

While we may not have any solid answers as to what the post means, that hasn't stopped people from making guesses. Most of these guesses come in the form of criticism and memes, which tend to directly reference his allegations. Some are pointing out that checkers is a popular game among children and framing the photo as being taken from the POV of a child, resulting in some disturbingly funny photoshops.

Others are hypothesizing that Beahm is suggesting, with the post, that the allegations or his response to them were a skillful, planned move akin to a chess move. There are numerous posts making fun of Beahm for seemingly suggesting this, wondering how exactly messaging a minor is relatable to a chess move. Basically, the post has opened Beahm up for a renewed wave of hate that many seem to believe is well-deserved, based on the evidence we currently have available.
