Is Arizona Really Passing An Anti-Furry Bill? The 'Arizona Furry Ban' Explained
Furries are once again in the crosshairs as rumors of an anti-furry bill in Arizona spread across Twitter. According to the source of the rumors, being a furry in Arizona will be a misdemeanor if the alleged bill passes. But is there any truth to these claims? Here's what we know.
What Is The 'Arizona Anti-Furry Bill' Meme?
In February 2023, Roblox YouTuber Ruben Sim started posting anti-furry sentiments on Twitter. First, he claimed he was going in front of Congress to argue in favor of criminalizing furries. Later that month, he tweeted that in April it would become a misdemeanor to be a furry in Arizona.
Finally, he tweeted out a phone number, asking viewers to call the number and leave a voicemail in support of an anti-furry bill that he claims is being proposed in Arizona. This tweet received widespread hate from the furry community, who started advertising their commissions and sharing furry artwork in his comments section.
Is The Arizona Anti-Furry Bill Real?
As far as we know, there is no anti-furry bill up for consideration in Arizona. There are no secondary reports or claims that support Ruben Sim's tweets. The more likely scenario is that Sim is trolling Twitter, specifically any furries that may come across the tweet, since Sim has a past of hating on furries.
Why Does Ruben Sim Hate Furries?
According to a video posted in December 2022 by YouTuber GDI, Ruben Sim's campaign against furries started when he posted a tweet calling out furry Hunter Fox for allegedly being arrested for kidnapping a 13-year-old boy. He then tweeted saying he "unironically" hates furries, calling them annoying, disgusting, and groomers, and saying he would have them ground into dog food if he was the president.
The tweets have seemingly been deleted, along with several others where Sim says he doesn't like furries. Ruben even reportedly got a temporary ban from Twitter for his comments, which was also documented by GDI. Now, Ruben is back on the anti-furry train with his tweets about the anti-furry bill in Arizona, which we can only assume, for now at least, are jokes.
