Last week, Austin, Texas music festival SXSW was canceled amidst fears of the Coronavirus, and now eyes are on Coachella as organizers ponder the best course of action.

Coachella is scheduled to take place on the weekends of April 10th and April 17th. It also takes place in Riverside County, where there has been a reported case of the Coronavirus, though the patient is now in custody. There are currently competing petitions on whether or not to cancel the festival, as residents are split on the pros on cons of holding the huge event. On the pro-side, people cite the revenue the festival brings to the area, and the event is also a huge revenue opportunity for the music industry stalwarts Live Nation and AEG. On the con side, Riverside County is densely populated with seniors, who are most susceptible to the severe side effects of the Coronavirus.

While the county and organizers debate over the best course of action, some memers are salivating with schadenfreude at the possibility of the festival's cancellation.

Others were ready to dive headfirst into Coronavirus-land if it meant they could attend the event.

According to a music executive, “Everybody’s watching Coachella. If Coachella goes down, it’s going to be a domino effect.” This could spell doom for not just Coachella, but New Orleans Jazz Fest, CMA Music Festival, Bonnaroo Music Festival, Lollapalooza and Burning Man as well.
