Twitter Imagines Several Novels That Can Be Improved With Muppets
In the absolutely perfect Muppet Christmas Carol, Rizzo asks Charles Dickens (played by Gonzo), "This is scary stuff. Should we be worried about the kids in the audience?", to which Dickens replies, "That's alright, this is culture."
The Muppets, Sesame Street included, were many children's first exposure to some classic bits of culture, from Dickens' Christmas classic to the Tim Curry romp of Muppet's Treasure Island. On December 24th, aka One More Sleep Til' Christmas eve, Twitter user @ellle_em posted the question, "What classic work of literature definitely requires a Muppet movie?"
The responses were predictably rife with extremely good ideas for Muppet literary adaptations. Some of the best include:
Pride and Prejudice:
Crime and Punishment:
The Great Gatsby:
The Seventh Seal:
Cyrano de Bergerac:
One Twitter user came up with a brilliant idea to make it all happen:
This idea isn't unheard of; an anthology of adapted literary classics featuring recognizable children's characters was essentially the plot of Wishbone, and it would certainly be the best use of The Muppets since, well, Christmas Carol and Treasure Island. Here's hoping it catches the right person's eye.

the idea of a series actually sounds pretty good. it'd be a great use for the muppets for something other than crappy commercials, and it's basically what they did for a lot of sketches in the Muppet Show. even sesame street does this. TAKE NOTICE, DISNEY OVERLORDS PLSSSSSS

I was hoping for some ironic responses to the prompt, like 1984.
Jackhound
American Psycho or Less Than Zero, just basically anything by Bret Easton Ellis.
Adam
Sam the Eagle or Fozzie Bear as Patrick Bateman
