After 98 years on Earth and over 70 years of publicly entertaining others, beloved comedian Carl Reiner passed away last night in Beverly Hills. Reiner received critical acclaim for creating The Dick Van Dyke Show and for directing The Jerk, Where's Poppa? Oh, God! and All of Me. He was born in the Bronx, served in World War II, and received the Mark Twain Prize For American Humor in 2000. He leaves behind three children, including his son Rob Reiner who directed When Harry Met Sally and The Princess Bride.

Sadly, Reiner also left behind his best friend, fellow comedian Mel Brooks. Reiner and Brooks met way back in 1950 while working on Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows. They went on to establish their own duo and created the sketch 2000 Year Old Man which resulted in five comedy albums and various television specials. After losing their wives, both men have shared dinner with each other every single night while watching Jeopardy! And, if they had time, they would even squeeze in a movie too.

After this sad news was shared on Twitter, tributes flooded in for the comedian, who at 98-years-old, tweeted every single day up until his death. While Reiner's name obviously shot to the trending topics, his best friend's name did too, with many expressing how awful they felt for Brooks.

Rob Reiner confirmed the news of his father's passing early this morning.

Jerry Seinfeld who featured Reiner on an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, shared his admiration for the comedy legend.

Others who either worked with Reiner, or were fans from afar, shared their memories.

Even The Muppets joined in on tweeting.

While Mel Brooks has yet to speak on Carl Reiner's passing, others have reflected on their beloved friendship.

The last photo shared of the duo came just a few days ago, when they celebrated Brook's 94th birthday.

Whether he was expressing his love for his dentist, or his admiration for the film Enough, it's clear that Reiner had one of the best Twitter accounts.

And one of the best lives.
