Nintendo has presented a new version of its Switch console, called simply "Nintendo Switch (OLED Model)," and it's just not all that different from the original 2017 model. A shiny OLED screen and a LAN port were not quite enough to produce massive hype, but they've successfully managed to stir social media into memeing the new model … or rather the lack of new features it has.

On Tuesday, Nintendo unveiled the new Switch in a trailer, showcasing its slightly bigger OLED screen and wired LAN port. The console is expected to become available on October 8th, 2021, priced at $349.99 versus $299.99 for the standard model.

No info about the technical capabilities of the new Switch was made available, and many fans did not find the small updates to the design significant enough to justify purchasing the OLED version. The lack of announced features instantly found a response in memes on Twitter.

They are the same picture mode has been full-on for the past two days.

The trailer itself also got its share of attention.

With Nintendo releasing the new OLED Switch in October, it seems like hopes for the full-blown "Switch 2" will have to remain hopes for a while longer.
