My Hero Academia is a superhero anime and manga unlike any other. Known for its fascinating characters, this show explores many different conflicts and tests every character in a unique way. Few anime characters are as loveable as the ones from My Hero Academia, and for good reason. Here are the 12 best My Hero Academia characters, ranked.

12. Gran Torino

(Source: My Hero Academia Wiki)

Gran Torino isn’t necessarily a bad character, he’s just a character archetype we’ve seen a million times before — an old sensei who’s hard on his students.

11. Stain

(Source: CBR)

Stain is a villain and later anti-hero known as the “Hero Killer.” He’s popular among fans for his personality and significance to the story, but he is not particularly complex and his backstory isn’t fully revealed.

10. Sir Nighteye

Sir Nighteye, who can see the futures of the other characters, wasn’t on the show for long, but he was very significant and interesting during his time. Fans just wish they had more time to get to know him as a character.

9. Himiko Toga

(Source: Villains Wiki)

Himiko Toga is a villain with a reputation in the fandom. She’s known for having an unexpectedly compassionate side to her personality, yet she drinks human blood and loves violence a little too much.

8. Katsuki Bakugo

(Source: Anime Planet)

No one liked him at first, but eventually viewers saw Bakugo’s more sensitive side over time, making him far more than an annoying bully who bothered Midoriya throughout much of the anime’s earlier episodes.

7. Best Jeanist

(Source: CB)

So technically his name is Tsunagu Hakamada, but it’s impossible to think of him as anything but Best Jeanist, considering he dresses completely in denim, including his face mask, which must be uncomfortable. He is surprisingly overpowered with his fabric-themed powers, and fans love him for it.

6. All Might

(Source: My Hero Academia Wiki)

As a superhero, All Might is ridiculously overpowered. He’s one of the most well-known heroes in the My Hero Academia universe, and he certainly lived up to his expectations on the show.

5. Endeavor

(Source: CBR)

No one liked Endeavor. As the father of Shoto and a very abusive husband, there was no way to expect a redemption arc from him, but eventually he is forced to confront the many problems of his character later in the series, and the change is very interesting to say the least.

4. Izuku Midoriya

(Source: Universal Conquest Wiki)

Izuku Midoriya starts off the story as a relatable character who is born without a superpower in a world full of superheroes. He’s whiny, but it’s compelling to watch as his character arc forms and he gains abilities of his own from All Might.

3. Mirio Togata

(Source: Anime Planet)

Miro Togata has a similar personality to Midoriya, but the reverse situation happens to him when he loses his abilities after having them for so long. In a way, this is the more compelling character arc, and it’s interesting to see how he responds to the new challenges.

2. Eri

(Source: Pure Good Wiki)

Eri has one of the saddest backstories in the show, having accidentally killed her own father. She has a great character arc where she begins to befriend others and learn to be happy again.

1. Shoto Todoroki

(Source: Ranker)

Shoto is one of the most interesting characters due to his quirk, which includes both fire and ice abilities, which obviously conflict dramatically. He is a fan favorite due to his complicated backstory and personality as well.
