Listen, we can all agree that adapting a beloved children's animated film into a live-action feature is a difficult task. Not only do filmmakers have to translate the whimsy inherent in animation into a real-seeming world, they also have to overcome decades of nostalgia in order to satisfy audiences who have loved the cartoon since they were children. Taking this challenge on seems like a herculean task destined to fail, yet studios keep on ordering them for some reason, despite audiences' tepid-to-outright hostile response.
