Shakespeare Supposedly Wrote "King Lear" In Quarantine. What Are We Doing?
Social Distancing and Self Isolating during the Coronavirus outbreak is surely going to fry some brains in the next few weeks as people try to find silver linings to this trying period. One theory going around is that while obviously the Coronavirus and the steps taken to mitigate its spread suck, at least we might get some great art out of it. All that time spent indoors must lead to some creative inspiration, right?
As evidence, some have noted that William Shakespeare supposedly wrote King Lear during the plague.
The above tweet by musician Rosanne Cash either implies that now is a time to pursue creative endeavors or that if you don't produce a masterwork in the time of Coronavirus, you've failed. Either way, Twitter users expressed bemusement at the idea that they should start making incredible art with all the hours they're about to spend indoors.
