Pete Davidson Is Now Having People Sign NDA's At His Stand Up Shows

In 2019, it's not uncommon for comedians to ask audience members to submit their phones to prevent leaked recordings of stand up material that will later be filmed for a special. What is not common, is having your audience sign an NDA that prevents them from even giving their opinion on comedic material they paid to actually go and see, especially when that NDA comes equipped with a $1 million fine.

Unfortunately, if you purchased tickets to see SNL cast member Pete Davidson perform stand up comedy at the Sydney Goldstein Theater in San Francisco on November 27, you were asked to do just that. When the Hollywood Reporter leaked this news, Twitter users couldn't help but scoff at the demands Davidson was setting and soon a new debate about whether or not comedians could place such restrictions commenced.

 
Those who attended the event came on Twitter to let everyone know they couldn't talk about it.

 
Some were willing to throw their relatives under the bus.

Fear was even a theme, especially when you're being asked to pay $1 million.

Of course, tweets full of disdain for the comedian's decision came quickly.

Imagine wasting money on tickets to see Pete Davidson. Then imagine signing an NDA so you “shall not give any interviews, offer any opinions or critiques, or otherwise participate in any form whatsoever (including but not limited to blogs, any social networking etc.)

As some users pointed out, the NDA would never be able to prevent other people who didn't attend the show to not criticize him.
