It's a miserable time to be a sports fan. The NCAA's annual March Madness tournament, the NBA season, the NHL season, and even the Masters have all been canceled due to an abundance of Coronavirus caution. Without games to watch, some sports fans have turned to desperate measures to scratch the sporting itch. This has led many to a wonderful discovery: Jelle's Marble Runs.

Jelle's Marble Runs is a YouTube channel devoted to holding mock competitions between marble teams. On Jelle's channel, the marbles race and go through obstacle courses, and while it may not seem like a video of marbles rolling around would be interesting, Jelle Bakker's production value puts it over the top. With his ingenious courses and strikingly in-depth analysis, including dead-on play-by-play commentary, the channel became a minor sensation in the late 2010s.

A sports-less world has led people down the YouTube rabbit hole and brought Jelle back to the spotlight. Time Magazine and Nerdist have both recommended the channel as Twitter users have marveled anew at some of Jelle's races.

Twitter user @davdchristmas gained over 220,000 retweets showing one of Jelle's races.

The video quickly captivated Twitter, who were surprised they were on the edge of their seat for the whole race.

That wasn't the only tweet of Jelle's videos to get popular. User @keddie44 tweeted a video that featured a full-on marble brawl.

If you haven't gotten into Jelle's Marble Runs yet, give it a shot. It's one of the best ways to kill an afternoon in quarantine.

I have been a subscriber to his channel even before the old one got deleted.

I don´t know yet how to feel about this sudden surge of popularity. Because so far, this small niche community has been really pleasant in tone and that usually changes when the hordes from the whole wide internet come in.

After Jelle's channel accidentally got deleted a couple of years ago, it's nice to see it becoming even more popular than before. The guy's content is delightfully entertaining and it deserves the surplus of views.

I tune in from time to time. Just something innate about watching marbles go is intriguing to me.
