No, You May Not Wish For A Remake Of 'The Princess Bride'
It's 2019 and both Russell Crowe and Ted Cruz are in agreement. Last night, Variety reported in a tweet that Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra claimed that many "famous people" would like a reboot of The Princess Bride. What followed on Twitter was a united effort by many users to stop this remake from happening. Below are some of the best reactions to this 'inconceivable' news.
Here’s an idea; Don’t spend any money making a new movie that will suck and just re-release the original. #PrincessBride

So it has happened, the one thing that truly unites the people of this world from all corners, all skin tones, all political parties……….The combined hatred of a potential Princess of the Bride remake.

Name a single person on the planet earth that could capture even a fraction of the charm of Andre the Giant playing Fezzik

I never thought I'd agree with Ted Cruz on something until now.

The success of a cult movie is not something you can just recreate.
ObscureMaiden
I would suggest it became a cult movie because it took the original and following audiences by storm, by being a very much needed surprise – if they remade it, there's only one way things can go – downhill fast. Instead of pushing 'superior special effects' remasterings, why doesn't Hollywood actually engage themselves in making, wait for it, better movies entirely?

There is no reason to remake a timeless classic like Princess Bride when plenty of other movies from that era would actually benefit from an update other than of course…
SwirlMob
The Princess Bride is one of the lightening in a bottle kind of films. It had a clever script, charming class, and was overall a fun movie. It'd be hard for the remake to capture the original magic.

Jesus, why can't people leave classics be?
Stop remaking films that are certified classics, there's no point, they will never reclaim the magic of the original.
Sure, money talks, but surely people are getting sick of this

You know, I really don't like this new format where the article is nothing but a vertical image gallery.

I thought these were just called listicles… Also isn't this exactly what Buzzfeed does? This type of article in general is very buzzfeed in nature…

Yeah I feel deceived when I accidentally click on one. They're super low-effort and not nearly as interesting.
