It was only a matter of time before LeBron James had to wade into the ongoing controversy the NBA is embroiled in with Chinese businesses and government after Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey tweeted his support for Hong Kong, and boy did he goof it. James simultaneously threw Morey under the bus by implicitly criticizing him for jeopardizing NBA business interests in China and took a neutral stance on the protests themselves. Many felt this was a cowardly move and James was roasted in the press and online, and as with most online roasts, a bevy of memes followed.

Yeah, that 'who is not with us is against us' mentality will be really good for the cause.

All fun and games until it starts getting actually racist, because clearly nobody would ever take this as an opportunity to get away with being actually racist.

If you implicitly support the repression of a democratic protest by an authoritarian regime, you deserve to be shat on.

Those memes are about Lebron being a coward, not black.

Yeah, no. I don't know why you came to that conclusion, but I actually hate both the suppression of basic human rights and the exploiting of hooplah over somebody to be racist.
