Goats Are Taking Over Lladudno
Just last week, we joked about how nature was coming to reclaim the earth. "We are the virus", we said. We joked because we were afraid.
A herd of goats has taken to roaming the quarantined streets of Lladudno, a township in the north of Wales. The rambunctious lot was profiled in a Twitter thread by Andrew Stuart, who chronicled their terrorization of hedges throughout the town. At one point he called the police. The goats came back twice as strong.
So I gave @NWPolice a call to tell them a load of kids (geddit?) were running riot (I didn’t actually say that… sadly). They said they’d pass it on to officers. pic.twitter.com/k1q28cfUi4

And they sent a patrol car down who turned on the big red lights. So, I’m sorry if the goats got arrested. But they were being very naughty. Also, close the gates behind you on the Orme. And stay 2m apart at all times. 🐐 🐐 🐐 pic.twitter.com/xczGrVoawL

Goat update: they’re back, and they’re gathering in groups of more than 2 🐐 pic.twitter.com/Bc2N42SPGo

This shows what it’s all about. They’re scared of me (a human) in this. They don’t like people. They usually only come down from the Great Orme when it’s windy, and only the back streets at the top of Mostyn Street. Now lockdown means it’s empty, they’re going further than ever. pic.twitter.com/roZpNm61Qh

While some may find this a charming story about goofy goats enjoying the environmental benefits of the Coronavirus lockdowns, others instantly recognized the true danger of a goat uprising.
While we've been on lockdown our true enemy, the mountain goats, seized their first town. This war will be long & brutal and I fear we will not prevail 🐐 https://t.co/fDeQcVuSuB

Growing up in Llandudno, I always knew the Great Orme mountain goats would be ones to take over in the event of any future apocalyptic dystopia. I for one, welcome our caprine overlords. https://t.co/w6RWsAir8c

At least one person had the idea to meme the goat invasion, which admittedly makes the whole situation very funny.
The Llandudno goats are so much better with a West Side Story soundtrack.(thanks to @AndrewStuart and the Bergamo boars) pic.twitter.com/A71FumsGNa

They aren't technically wild, more like feral imported livestock, but still an interesting story
